Buckeye is the third safest big city in Arizona

An internet-based research group has determined that the City of Buckeye is the third safest big city in Arizona. And that finding is reinforced by a recent city marketing and communications division survey that indicated residents enjoy living in Buckeye because they feel safe.
With the most recent FBI crime statistics as its research foundation, ValuePenguin’s study determined that Buckeye is behind only Gilbert and Surprise. Goodyear ranked fourth and Peoria sixth on the list of cities over 50,000 in population. Read More

The Buckeye Police Department is a full-service, 24/7 operation staffed by 119 employees to include 83 sworn officers. The Department operates effectively and efficiently with modern policies/ procedures and is currently seeking the international distinction of being accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement (CALEA). The department operates a multi-agency Communications Center equipped with the most modern equipment and resources. The Buckeye Police Department utilizes the COMPSTAT Model for identifying and addressing crime trends and supports creativity and ingenuity in addressing crime issues. The agency is very involved in community partnerships as well as inter-agency partnerships as illustrated by its involvement in Task Forces with DEA, HIDTA (High-intensity Drug Trafficking Area), US Marshals, OCDETF (Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force) (and the Arizona Counter-Terrorism Information Center. The Patrol Division is staffed with over 45 officers and supervisors and is further supplemented by motorcycle and K-9 officers, Traffic Unit personnel, School Resource Officers and a robust Citizen on Patrol Program. The Police Department operates a multi-agency Communication Division and currently dispatches for the City of Buckeye, the City of Maricopa, as well as Tonopah Fire. The department has six Class A pumpers, two 100 foot aerial trucks, a technical rescue support vehicle, two brush trucks, two command vehicles and six staff vehicles. All line staff are certified firefighters and approximately 50% are Para-Medics.
