Mayor Meck successfully recovering from a procedure to clear a blocked artery.
On Sunday, March 18, Buckeye Mayor Jackie Meck underwent an emergency procedure to clear a blocked artery, in spite of exercising regularly and feeling healthy. We are happy to report the procedure was a success and Mayor Meck is resting comfortably and surrounded by his family. He is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital in the next 36 hours.
At this time, the Meck family requests to please respect their family’s privacy to ensure the mayor is able to rest properly. Through his family, Mayor Meck stated, “I want to thank all the doctors, nurses and medical staff that have cared for me in the last 24 hours.” Meck continued, “I love the city of Buckeye and look forward to being back on the job as soon as possible. I will follow the doctor’s and my wife’s orders so I can continue serving the city of Buckeye.”
The Meck family reminds everyone to learn the signs and symptoms of heart problems, which include:
- Pressure, tightness, pain or a squeezing sensation in your chest, arms or even your neck, jaw or back
- Nausea, indigestion, heartburn and abdominal pain
- Shortness of breath
- Cold sweat
- Fatigue, and
- Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness

Vice Mayor Eric Orsborn will be acting Mayor until Mayor Meck is released to return to work by his doctors.
