Input Needed for Phase II of Sundance Park
Residents are invited to provide their input and feedback on the conceptual designs of the Sundance Park Phase II expansion project on March 21 at 6 p.m. at the Coyote Branch Library, 21699 W. Yuma Road.
The concepts and amenities being presented at this meeting are a direct result of the more than 2,300 responses received from a survey conducted during the summer of 2017. The top five amenities include:
- A splash playground
- Large, shaded, multi-purpose area for programs
- Picnics ramadas for large groups (50 or more people)
- An extreme walking path
- A bicycle course
The city is also evaluating the possibility of a 5-acre urban fishing lake in Phase II.
Sundance Park is located on the southwest corner of Rainbow and Lower Buckeye roads and features softball and baseball fields, a multi-use field for soccer or football, a large covered playground, dog park, volleyball courts, small ramada/picnic areas, a perimeter walking path and restrooms.
Phase II of the park is located on 35 acres just west of the existing park. Input from this meeting will be incorporated into the park’s Master Plan. Construction plans will take approximately one year to complete. Construction of the park will occur once funding becomes available.
